Similarities, Differences, and Judgements

I want to know how we are similar, different, and I want to know your judgments on me.

  1. Fanny Elssler, I really enjoyed reading about your life, and comparing being a writer, and a dancer, during the industrial revolution. It sounds as though as woman, and both having fathers who already have a good reputation as artists in each of our fields, we are rather similar. Being a feminist, I must congratulate you on being one of the first female dancers to go en pointe.

  2. As a musician I have to admit your pictures especially the first one, is very insteresting. Very inspiring as well, I could almost compose a piece right just by looking at that picture. I see from reading your interview that we both got started in our arts at a rather young age. I can also relate to how your father did not want you to enroll in ballet, my mother and father didn't want a musician for a son, they wanted me to be a bookbinder just like my father. I really enjoyed learning more not only about you but a little about dance at this time.

  3. Dear Mlle. Elssler,
It's very nice to meet you. My name is Amy Beach and I am one of America's first successful female composers. I read your blog and could not help but notice a great many similarities between us. Both of us had to overcome the obstacle of being a woman in an artistic world run by men. We became interested in the arts at a young age and our parents were some of our biggest influences when it came to us deciding to go into the arts. We also both became rather wealthy by the end of our careers.
I also noticed a few differences between us as well. The most obvious is that you are a dancer and I am a musician. You are from a family in Europe while I am from America.
From what I've read and seen in your pictures, you seem like a very talented dancer. Congrats on becoming one of the first female dancers to go en pointe. I've really enjoyed learning more about you and can't wait to speak to you again in the future.

  4. Bonjour! I believe you seem like an exclent dancer! You seem to have alot of experance which is what drives you to become even better!
We are diffrent because well, you are a dancer and I am an actress but for many other reasons. I am from France and you are from Austria. Also you began your art at age 11 and I began at age 13.In adition i have never been pregnent let alone a mother at all so i never had to keep a secert like that!
We are similar because we both use romanticism to portray our art form. Also we both did our art with our sisters as i sang on the streets with my sister Sara and as you toured with her doing ballet.
judging by your dedecation to be one of the first girls on point I think you are an exclent and beautiful dancer!
